"Almost three or four months after this happened...a knock came on our door. A gentleman in military uniform was there and spoke a long time with my parents. When he left my mom was crying and my dad was angry. I was told never to mention what we had seen again or I would never see my family again.

MEDIA BLACKOUT

Witness Barbara Hudson. New York-based researcher Timothy Green Beckley investigated the incident and found Hudson to be a reliable witness (who incidentally, also claims to be a UFO contactee). He spoke with her father who also witnessed the UFO and confirmed that all the streets had been cordoned off. He received signed statements from them, but was unable to locate any other witnesses.

"If this case really took place, undoubtedly hundreds, perhaps thousands, of New Yorkers must know of this incident, but because of a tight wall of security and seventeen years of absolute press silence, this important and dramatic UFO event has never been publicized."

Following a massive wave of UFO activity in 1952, the CIA decided it was time to suppress public interest in the subject via a covert, mass-media program of "training and debunking."

Adding to the concern was a flying saucer sighting by US Senator Richard Russell and his party while traveling on a train in the USSR in October 1955. After extensive interviews of Russell and his group, however, CIA officials concluded that Russell's sighting did not support the theory that the Soviets had developed saucer like or unconventional aircraft. Herbert Scoville, Jr., the Assistant Director of OSI, wrote that the objects observed probably were normal jet aircraft in a steep climb.

According to Yuri Stroganov, heads the intelligence services of the USSR, Great Britain, United States and France held secret meetings in Geneva throughout 1956. There they reached an agreement regarding a policy of secrecy on 'the UFO problem', reportedly including: the pressurizing of witnesses (including death threats) to refrain from talking about their experiences; fabrication of false 'explanations' for sightings, the creation of a mechanism to ignore or play down the subject, involving the complicity of the military and scientific community as well as the media; and the inflitration of UFO research groups.21

'Through official secrecy and ridicule, many citizens are led to believe the unknown flying objects are nonsense'.

CBS TV broadcast of UFOs: Friend, Foe, or Fantasy?, a documentary narrated by Walter Cronkite. In a personal letter addressed to former Robertson Panel Secretary Frederick C Durant, Dr Thornton Page confides that he “helped organize the CBS TV show around the Robertson Panel conclusions”, even though he was personally sympathetic to the existence of flying saucers.

"He described it as the inexorably linked military-industrial-lab-university-NASA and other space agencies-intelligence community-government complex that it was intertwined, but there was a group that knew all of it. He did not act as if he knew who it was." -- Dr Carol Rosin

"Also I am intrigued by the notion that there are government agents monitoring the civilian UFO scene, putting out disinformation, thoroughly muddying the waters... any thoughts?" -- STANTON T. FRIEDMAN

MEDIA BLACKOUT

Greg Boone. The Poughkeepsie Journal.

The reporters were amazed and began to put together what they were sure would be the story of the century: proof of the Hudson Valley Triangle. Said Boone, "We had access to AP, Garnnett, etc., and USA Today, which we mainly put out. Nope. Word came down from up high that not one word was to be mentioned. Solid object, hovered, maneuvered, seen by tens of thousands, pictures taken, and no mention anywhere."

Determined to have his story told, Boone later recounted his ordeal in an article titled, "More Proof of Media UFO Coverup."

He [government official] told me that he had been charged with the responsibility of investigating the operation of a "black government" within the government, where funds were being spent without appropriate oversight to maintain a false story about the Roswell Incident and cover the true story up. He said his job was to report to the Senate Appropriations Committee, and advise them as to where these tax dollars were going.

MEDIA BLACKOUT

Local citizens were awakened by a series of extremely loud explosions, soon after a traveler on I-20 took a picture of a strange disc-like object being transported near the area: . Concerned citizens contacted local police and media. There was no official response to the extremely loud explosion reports. A media blackout left the people of Arlington to draw their own conclusions. Additional information states that numerous callers began phoning local stations with reports of a strange sight on Interstate 20, which runs between Dallas and Ft. Worth. They described a surreal scene---a large, flatbed truck was carrying what appeared to be a UFO on its trailer. The 18-wheeler appeared to be escorted by what appeared to be military vehicles, and they were flanked by Dallas Police Department vehicles and personnel. In the immediate vicinity of the entourage, incoming ramps to the freeway were closed. Some of the callers, who got close enough to see the parade of vehicles, stated that the large UFO was giving off steam or smoke. One driver, who was escorted to the side of the highway, managed to take two photographs with his cell phone. The photos are not clear and taken from a distance.
