Maneuver

October 1, 1948. Fargo, North Dakota, United States Witness: Lieutenant George F. Gorman. On the evening of October 1st, 1948, Lieutenant Gorman was returning from a cross-country flight with his squadron of North Dakota Air National Guard, when he saw an unidentified light source. He closed to within about l,000 yards to take a good look, later saying, “It was about six to eight inches in diameter, clear white, and completely round without fuzz at the edges." For 27 hair-raising minutes, Gorman pursued the light through a series of intricate maneuvers. North Dakota Public Radio, Dec. 10. 2003 http://www.ufoevidence.org/cases/case704.htm

Capt. Jack Adams and First Officer G.W. Anderson. "This object remained in full view for about 30 seconds and we got a good look. It had no navigation lights, but as it passed ahead of us in an arc we could plainly see other lights -- as though from eight or 10 lighted windows or ports -- on the lower side...."

The night was so dark that neither Adams nor Anderson could detect any dark or solid outline to the object. They assume that it was circular only because the lighted "portholes" were arranged in a circle.

The pilot then observed a "huge" light, attached, he suspected, to an even bigger something that the darkness obscured. When the electronics gear noted the presence of another UFO in the same general location as the first, the pilot turned the plane and accelerated toward it. The UFO shot away.

August 27, 1979. Northwestern Minnesota Marshall County Deputy Sheriff Val Johnson. Studying the brilliant light in the stand of trees two and a half miles south of him, Marshall County Deputy Sheriff Val Johnson wondered if drug smugglers had flown over the Canadian border into the flat, isolated terrain of far northwestern Minnesota. The light was close to the ground, suggesting that the plane had either landed or crashed. Or maybe there was some simpler explanation.   http://science.howstuffworks.com/1979-minnesota-ufo.htm

September 16, 1987. Memphis, Indiana Memphis, Indiana, 15 miles north of Louisville and 30 miles northeast of Corydon. Mr. Delehanty's report: "Mr. Engle noticed a bright light over his house while driving north on Trealor Rd. As he approached the Wagner home, the bright light was slightly southwest of his house over an open field. It moved very slowly and he could hear no sound of engines. He came into his house and phoned Mike Wagner to come over and look at the lights in this diamond-shaped pattern. Mr. Wagner saw same lights over his property. Lights were primarily white, some red. One light in center was extremely bright white and shone a beam all the way to the ground, back and forth. Mr. Engle was concerned why the lights were so low in the sky, over the house, with no noise."   http://www.nicap.org/regenc/RegEnc.pdf
